Claude mirrors you

Claude automatically adapts to the way you communicate. Write formally and Claude responds formally. Write casually and use emojis, and Claude meets you there. This is intentional design — not coincidence.

Tone — from casual to academic

You can always override the automatic adaptation by saying it explicitly:

💡 Tone examples:
"Reply informally, like a friend."
"Use academic language with references."
"Be direct and concise — no introduction."
"Explain as if to a beginner with no technical terms."
"Use humor and be a little sarcastic."

Length — short or detailed

Claude default answers are often thorough. If you want shorter or longer answers, just say so:

📝
Shorter: "Answer in max 3 sentences." / "Give me only the conclusion." / "TL;DR first."
📚
Longer: "Please elaborate." / "Give me a thorough walkthrough." / "Include examples for each point."

Actively steer the conversation

Many people think they have to accept Claude first answer. That is not true. Use these phrases to shape the response:

✂️
"Make it shorter" / "Cut the introduction" / "Get to the point"
🔍
"Elaborate on point 3" / "Give me an example" / "Explain it more simply"
